About Me

Describe Yourself:Serious corporate guy by day; irreverent blogger by moonlight.
Have friends in many places ( I've worked in different parts of the country.)
When I make friends, I keep them. Still in touch with a tight group of guys from University.
Really diverse: love the country (horseback riding, hiking, canoeing, gardening, cycling, historical sites) and big cities (serious music, theater, and great food).
Somewhat posh (descended from long line of clergymen!), but have roots in small towns and the country.
Bookish (will argue through the night in cafes and lofts). Religious (Episcopalian) and adventuresome, love to travel and love to curl up at home. Set up movie nights with friends each winter.
Have done some writing -and been published. (Mostly professional stuff, not something from the drawer full of unfinished novels and poems.)
Like people who are calm and confident, committed to something - job, art, politics, spirituality, etc.
Can't deal with superficiality, screaming, bigotry, poseurs, etc.
Grateful for the great tide of good wine from all parts of the world, the consistently-great restaurants in my neighborhood (Flatiron), and for antique prints, ancient coins, rare books, and enameled glass with which my flat is littered. -
On Gather, I'm Looking For ...:Decency, fellowship, goodwill, wit, and humor.

Kris M., Nov 4, 2009, 11:32PM ESTDid you see the recent Ken Burns documentary about the National Parks? I thought of you more than once while watching it. I found it utterly fascinating.

Mina I., Oct 12, 2009, 10:46AM EDT-- Hi, Peter. I viewed Cape Cod & N.Y. postcards on Gather this Mon. a.m., 10/12/09. Art, history, & the great outdoors interest me. Yellowstone Natl. Pk. offered me summer job but past employers wouldn't provide ltr. of recommendation. None! In Vt. now I walk on Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail as often as possible. --

Honore Montgolfier, Jun 20, 2009, 12:53PM EDTPeter, I declined the photograph of the soldier and the article about the Cousins because they are not postcards.
I hope that you understand; you told me to be "ruthless" about the group. -
Doug M., Jun 20, 2009, 10:12AM EDTHi Peter,
I was pleased to hear from you last week... it was a bright spot in our otherwise dreary, NYC springtime. I am fine. It has been a good year for hunkering down and working. I have a show scheduled for next season, but the artworld is rife with rumors of my gallery's closing. Frankly, I don't see how any of the galleries are staying afloat.
I wish you all good things. Be well. -
Dannielle S., Jun 18, 2009, 6:45PM EDTIt's so great to see you here again, Peter! It's been a lonely place recently...
-
Marian L., Jun 18, 2009, 5:13PM EDTMy pleasure (re: postcard comment.)

Dannielle S., Apr 24, 2009, 6:52PM EDTAh, Peter. It's more fun on Gather when you're around.
Unfortunately, I'm headed out to a fiddle jam this evening, so I'll miss your company -- will comment-stalk you later.
Happy Arbor Day!
